Maj. Gen. George W. Griner, Jr.
August 1943 - November 1943. Gen. Griner had earlier served as assistant commander of the 77th Infantry Division. Subsequently, Gen. Griner commanded the 98th Infantry Division and 27th Infantry Division in the Pacific.
Maj. Gen. Elbridge G. Chapman, Jr.
November 1943 - Inactivation. Prior to joining the 13th Airborne, Gen. Chapman had led the Airborne Command.
